When we started with Smith Thompson it was well priced and the service was very good. If we had a minor issue with the equipment they would troubleshoot with us over the phone before sending someone out and charging us for a service visit. Fast forward a number of years and price increases, we started having issues with the equipment. After trying to resolve the issue on our own we called for help but were surprised that they were no longer willing to troubleshoot the problem with us over the phone. We were flatly told we would need to have a $80+ service call to figure it out. That was disappointing so after considering our options for a few months we decided to remove the equipment.... most likely over a simple issue. We expected that Smith Thompson would contact us when the equipment was removed, as there were still several months of pre-paid monitoring left, but no call ever came. Since we had been paying annually and there was no contract we expected that the service would discontinue after non-payment at the first of the year. We missed the statement on the invoice that says that service will continue until a 30 day notification is received. We were not planning on renewing so we didn't pay much attention to all the small print on the invoice. So we were charged for monitoring services for equipment that had been removed for months. We find it concerning that they were unaware that the equipment was gone and that tells me that we would not have been secure if a burglar had disabled the system. Personally I feel this is a tacky money grab by a company that has grown too large to provide good service, but do understand that we had the opportunity to see the policy. I will no longer recommend this company to anyone.

We love working with Smith Thompson! we have used them for years at our previous home and decided to continue using them at our new home. The customer service over the phone for the set up and cancellation of the old service was seamless. The interaction with the sales rep for our installation was awesome!

Totally impressed with Smith-Thompson security and Pest Services!! Installed a full security system with camera, doorbell, glass break sensors etc. and I love the system. The app is incredible. Derek was my technician and he is simply amazing. Also using their pest service and very pleased.

I used to be a customer of ADT and will no longer utilize their services. They’ve become completely commercial with mandatory 2 to 3 year contracts and try and throw on extra costs on monthly alarm monitoring fees.
I found Smith-Thompson Security who had rave customer reviews. Their monthly monitoring services are half the cost of ADT And the entire process with installation, thanks to Clint, was seamless, professional, and efficient. Top-notch security company very pleased so far with their services as well as the cell phone app that comes with the alarm system. Awesome company, and staff!

Smith Thompson has been our security service for years. We started using their pest control service a year ago and have been very happy with it. They come out quarterly and do a great job at a fraction of the cost of other pest services. So glad we switched!

Just swapped over from a big name security company to Smith-Thompson yesterday. Our installer (Alan) did a great job. He gave us some great advice on our setup, and didn’t leave until everything was right. Took the time to explain everything to us and answered all our questions. And this was all on the day after Christmas. We’re still getting familiar with the new system, but so far we’re very pleased. Panel and phone app are very easy to navigate, everything seems to be working seamlessly. Best part - no contract. They keep their business with good service and low monthly rates. Only been a day, but so far we’re already quite happy to have made the switch!
