Orchard Creek Supportive Care has been my very first Job in health care. I started off as just a resident aide, and pushed myself to get my CNA, and worked myself to be Assistant Manager for this building. I have been here for 9 years and although health care has its ups and down Orchard Creek as a company has been helped me out when I needed some time for myself, and family as I had my daughter while working for Orchard Creek.

So these reviews are very disappointing to see, as one of the reviews is this girl, who has never worked in dementia health care. As she's standing there with her hands behind her back and is afraid to help feed out residents, and to come to our office and say that this job isn't for her, and only wanted to stay because she didn't have a ride to get picked up when we separated employment. Nothing to say bad about her but if anyone who has worked in dementia health care its for some people and you can see that from the interactions with our residents.

I will defend my place of employment because we have been nothing but understanding when it comes different walks of life that come through these doors and to come to put a bad mark on this place is very upsetting . Nowadays nurses and health administration are always being under attack because when we want the best care these residents. Honestly this is one of the best places I have worked at.

Very disappointing to see a bad review be posted due to a young woman being angry that a job didn’t work out. This woman did not make any attempt to learn the job, and as most who have experience will agree, working in long term care (especially a dementia unit) requires a potential employee to be willing to learn the job and not be fearful of the residents that they will be caring for. Often times this is decided the first day. This is not a personal decision on anyone’s part, and is not an attack on anyone individually. We simply need to make sure that our potential employees are “cut out” for the position which can admittedly be very difficult.
Orchard Creek has been my “home” for 8 years. This was my very first job in healthcare and I am now a Registered Nurse, still there. The Supportive Care unit is where we provide the very best care we possibly can to those suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. We create a loving home environment for them until their days on earth are done. Please do not let a young person with a grudge make you think otherwise about our facility.

My first day for training and I got fired due to me “refusing” to help the residents when I never refused or said no to helping anyone, I was never told I could do stuff on my own if I was ready to so I was with my trainer and I was helping her with some residents then during lunch I was helping handing out food and everything then after that I was helping my trainer help a resident then I get pulled out of the room by April and told “that’s all we had of you today” then she took my name tag and everything. I asked later why that happened because I was confused and she said “The staff reports that you refused to interact with the residents even when they tried to get you to be some what hands on. And the refusal. And just watching you not really having the willingness to be hands on.” When I was trying my best to do that stuff and I was hands on helping people if they needed help and I had the willingness to be hands on as well, but ig to them I didn’t. If I were to come back to health care and try and be a CNA again I wouldn’t choose this place of employment..
