We run a mobile storage company and use custom-built hydraulic lift trucks that use many entirely custom fabricated parts as part of the lift system design.

Our oldest lift system was almost 13 years old and needed a major refurbishment, but finding people who are skilled and a company that is trustable to fabricate large and heavy steel parts is very difficult. Based on the recommendation of a good friend who owns Miller Equipment Company, a large forklift dealer and shop, I reached out to Tim Danker at Material Handling Specialists in Hutchins, TX. I took my truck down to him, and he and his team spent about an hour talking with me and taking many detailed measurements. I also looked at the equipment they were working on, the tools in their shop, and the machines they had fabricated shown on their web site and believed that these guys had the skill to take on a very critical job for us.

They had two very heavy steel beams that are essentially like a massive forklift mast custom fabricated for us, fabricated rollers to travel inside the "mast," and gathered the parts they would need. Then they called me to say they were ready for the truck and to begin work.

After they finished, I went to their shop with a second truck to place one of our containers on the ground and let the refurbished truck lift and lower it just to be sure everything worked. I must say that it worked flawlessly. Their measurements were spot on. Now my lift system has rebuilt hydraulics, no leaks, no slop/play in its motion, and even has some other nice amenities added like a swing-out back door to the engine cowling that covers a gasoline engine on the back of the truck.

They fabricated brand new wheels, installed four sealed bearing cages in each wheel, built new bushings, pins, and many other parts, essentially making this lift system even more "heavy duty" than it was when new. I am totally impressed.

I let my guys drive it for a couple of weeks to give me good feedback before submitting this review, and I can now say with great confidence that Material Handling Specialists (MHS) did a superb job on all of their work. Everything is tight with no play, helping us do our container pickups and drops with great precision.

It is a scary thing to have a very costly piece of equipment rebuilt, but if you need a company that can fabricate big equipment or just do smaller fab and welding jobs for you, this is a company you can definitely trust. We will definitely use them again. Thanks Foster Miller for the great recommendation. Thanks to the Danker family and their great employees for giving our much-used lift system a brand new life.
