I rented a skid loader for landscaping and the left side track, unfortunately, ripped apart less than 2 hours into the job. I contacted Bills front desk and they offered to provide a free replacement unit rented at my convenience so I could finish. When unexpected equipment breakdown happened, they made it right. Considering their service, I would definitely rent again.

Do not recommend the Platte location. The man at the front counter couldn’t be less welcoming. We CONFIRMED they would be open until 5pm. Then, upon driving all the way back to town from way out east to return the equipment on a Monday at 1400, Billy’s is randomly closed. For roughly 2 inches of snow. No notification, no message on their phones, just keeps ringing and ringing. Thanks a lot Billy’s. Everyone should exercise caution when using this company in the winter. Guess we will just take our equipment all the way back out east and try again tomorrow.

I’ve used Bills many times with three different operations now, and they are hands-down the best equipment rental in town. Brian at the Chestnut location in particular is awesome to work with, so accommodating and professional!

I rented a core drill from their downtown location. On their website it shows a specific piece of equipment (Husqvarna DM220) which should have done the job for me since it has a leveling system, a clutch (important if drilling by hand!), and safely accepts up to 5" bits for hand drilling. I rented a 4 in bit to go along with it.

When I showed up for pickup, they gave me some chinese no-name knock off drill. I asked if it had a clutch and they said no, so you better brace it against yourself so it doesnt break your wrist. I should have just declined the rental then. Once I got home, I realized how dangerous it would be to use. Since I don't own a laser level, I wouldnt be able to keep the bit perpendicular and have a high chance of hurting myself. On top of this, the manual that came with the drill they gave me said not to hand drill anything more than 2" core bits. Definitely because of the lack of safety features.

I ended up buying my own drill (with clutch) and 4 in core bit to do the job. If renting from here, make sure that the equipment they are giving you is the same one you see on their website! Especially if you need the features advertised. I reached out to the manager but heard nothing back.

We had to rent numerous pieces of equipment for a three (four) day project, and the staff and equipment at Bill’s was second to none! They had everything ready to go prior to our arrival, everything worked flawlessly, and were able to extend our rental by a day due to weather delays with no issues. Best of all, they were helpful and friendly throughout the process, despite clearly being very busy. The best rental equipment experience I’ve had, and the only place I’ll go from now on for future rental needs!

This is an update to my original post-

Original post-
I was raised that if you break something, you replace it, and I live by that motto, but Bill’s Rental are charging me for routine maintenance that should be done on their equipment and telling me that I damaged their equipment.

I rented a 6x12, dual axle trailer with a max capacity of 4,000 lbs. I used the trailer for a roll of artificial turf that was 500 lbs. (see picture). After I return the trailer I was told that I caused damage and Damon (Volmer store manager) accused me of wrecking the trailer and trying to cover it up. They send me pictures of the damage and it’s a rusted and broken shackle strap (see picture). Anyone that knows trailers will tell you that these need to be replaced for routine maintenance or need replaced if someone puts too much weight in the trailer. The damage waiver that we pay covers routine maintenance and wear and tear but they are claiming that I caused the damage. There is no other damage to the trailer.

I’m questioning this extra bill of $430 that they are hitting me with and Brian (downtown store manager) tells me they are going to send me to collections and that I won’t be able to rent from them again.

That’s where I stand now. Still trying to resolve this issue I called back to talk to someone higher than the manager and I’m waiting to hear back from Hunter.

Update-
After multiple calls to try and resolve this, I get a call from Brian. He said that it was determined that the damage was due to wear and tear and that I do not owe them anything, and that I can rent from them again. While I am relieved that I do not have to deal with collections, I am still not satisfied with the way they handled this situation. They were quick to place blame and were quick to say they were sending me to collections by me just questioning these extra charges. In the end, there was no apology offered for the misunderstanding. This was a very frustrating experience but I learned my lesson and will take my future business elsewhere.
