Nothing done right!

We found Apex Air Conditioning and Refrigeration off of the Carrier website with the understanding they were a certified representative and this would be done correctly. We bought the best system money could buy with the highest efficiency. A SEER 23 the highest efficiency model on the market. We went off Apex recommendation to re-duct the entire house to get the proper balancing and to ensure cooling to the back master bedroom where air was lacking.

The contract was for 2 zones, they installed 1! Contract stated as follows “New Ductwork, remove existing flex duct and duct board, install new flex, mixing boxes, separate ducts into 2 zones that include the master bedroom and kitchen on a zone and the living room and back bedrooms on another zone” They didnt install as per the contract.

There was supposed to be a Carrier rebate of $1,700 that the owner stated we weren't eligible, Carrier themselves stated we are. Richard the owner stated it was from thedate of purchase, called Carrier and denied his statement stating, it is date of completion. So they refused th rebate and or kept it.

There was insulation blowing out of the ducts, and the owner Richard stated this was normal, it is not.

They disconnected the freezer in my garage during the week I was away and then plugged it back in, bags of ice were gone, completely melted away and the door was frozen shut and $3,000 in medication was ruined. I was out over $3,000 aside form the installation.

We had an agreement when done, I would fly in to inspect on Friday 9/13/24 this was to be after the city inspected and signed off on that same date of 9/13/24. Vence the supervisor sent me a threatening text the day before on 9/12/24 "I'm not trying to scare you but just keeping you informed, payment is due upon completion of the job. At this point a mechanics lien will be put upon your house, as soon as the balance is paid it will be removed." Now, the job wasn’t completed as it wasn't signed off by the township at this point and he was already threatening me because they hadnt done the work.
The home is not cooling as well as it did prior and cannot reach desired temps on hot days. It used to cool fine with the old system, now if I set the thermostat for 76 on a hot day it never goes below 78. They either undersized the unit or have too much friction loss in the new ducts they installed.

I spoke with Richard the owner on the Monday 9/16/24. He refused to work out anything regarding any of the above, even went as far as to state they never balance a new duct or system. He offered me a $250 reduction on a $23,000 install or threatened the lien. I now have to hire another licensed Carrier rep to complete to keep the warranty as well as fight these guys in court for breach of contract.

Stay far away!!

In response to Richards response below (there is no place I can find to reply to his allegations, so I will add my response here as an extension of my original comment) I did reach out on 9/16/24 as stated above, all my details are clear and detailed. Richard is using defelction and misdirection and didnt answer to one single issue listed above. As stated, I will have to now go with the legal process. This was never an issue of non-payment, as he insinuated. To date I have never said I wont pay the bill, they threatened a lien before the job was signed off, it was still open. In fact, I have all outstanding funds in a seperate account pending a ruling by the administrative authority. It is Richard and Apex that closed the door on me and refused to rectify and made threats of liens. Sorry, I won't be paying for work not completed. Once all third party funds have been extracted from rectiying the work they didnt do and the damages incured are deducted, if anything is left, I will gladly pay the outstanding part of the bill. It is Richard who has claimed zero accountability here. I'm pretty sure the legal system is going to correct this, stay tuned.
