Please educate yourself on other treatment options rather than Equip Health. In this case I was the patient suffering from bulimia and BED. I cannot stress enough that if you guys have a LARGER clientele you should have a LARGER employee staff. The amount of times my appointments were rescheduled is ridiculous, I expected a better experience considering the HUGE AMOUNT OF COST this program is for just OKAY therapy and dietitian sessions. I have made some steps into recovery, however I could have done the same or BETTER at other economical programs. Disppointed.

Equip can be a good program but it largely depends on which individual providers you are matched with.

The family mentor was awesome, and while she didn't understand my daughter's particular situation with long lasting extreme hunger, she had a lot of general helpful knowledge and wisdom to share. The dietitian was kind, but did not know how to help in our particular situation of continued extreme hunger. The nurse practitioner really pressed trying antidepressants (ssris) but that only made everything worse. She cared but discounted my daughter's genuine hunger as an emotional or psychological issue. The therapist never really went into therapy in sessions but rather spent session time discussing updates. She was the one overseeing the entire process; we never had the chance to speak with someone higher and more knowledgeable at equip, even when our team ran out of ideas to help. The therapist appeared stressed and overworked and was often running behind.

In the end, equip helped with some aspects of recovery but we stopped after a few months as it was not worth continuing to pay thousands per month (our insurance didn't pay a penny despite saying they would).

There’s something going on at this place currently. I don’t know if management changed or if they’re short staffed due to the recession and not able to pay or keep quality staff, but it’s not working. I believe the parents of anorexic children are having success because it’s family based, parents monitor and report, and encourage. Kids are easy to please with basic therapy and mentorship — but if you’re an adult, truly struggling, you would do better researching ADHD or autism to see if that’s what’s causing your binging or purge/avoidant food behaviors. They don’t treat ADHD with ADHD meds or stimulants like Vyvanse that are FDA approved for binge, they push SSRI’s — which cause weight gain and binging. It’s not a psychiatrist either, it’s a mental health nurse practitioner, so no GLP1’s either. You’d have better luck spending your money on quality therapy. You don’t need all this stress in your life. They cancel appointments left and right, charge you anyways. I did not get an invoice until it was too late; $7,500/month for a few sessions with info I could have found on YouTube for free, or a women’s support group. The therapist needs a month off, she’s burnt out and just getting through sessions. There’s no deep, work being done here. I’m not sure if there ever was or if this is the greatest mental health scam of the century and we’re going to hear about this on the news soon. I applaud the company for reaching out, but people usually fix their reviews if it was resolved. 2 stars because it was a good idea and I’m glad some kids can get help. Adults with BED or ADHD binging, or autism ARFID beware.

I was excited to try this program for my daughter as it was online and we wouldn’t need to drive an hour for appointments. However, we weren’t finding success in the program. We stopped after four months and then I received my first bill. I misunderstood when we started the program and thought the monthly amount billed was the annual amount. I cannot justify $7500 per month for 5-7 20 minute zoom visits. Our visits were not limited solely on our end, they were scheduled based on recommendations and availability.

The multidisciplinary therapy was effective and I am happy that my daughter got over her eating disorder. However the billing experience was not great. I was given a "sample estimate" but was told it will depend on recovery. Four months later get my first bill. I found out my insurance was charged $7500 a month regardless of number of sessions needed. It is equivalent of $250/hr session 30 days a month! I did not get the bill until AFTER these months were passed so it is too late to make changes. Customer support from the company fizzled out after signed up, so I had to get the therapist to act as the go-between.

Cannot stand to see this place is still running, my experience with equip was terrible. If you are not too deep into your ED I believe this place could be beneficial however there was little to no support, they cancel sessions or say they're "out of the office" due to in training sessions they have. Also it's not like they have someone on speed dial so they don't always respond efficiently. Their FBT style of therapy truly did not work for me as I am an adult. I think it may be helpful to people who aren't to deep into their disorder or still need to be monitored because they were inpatient/in treatment. To add on when I got sent to residential they denied giving over any information to my follow up treatment facility.

I'm so glad that our family chose Equip Health for eating disorder treatment. We have two children that have eating disorders and we have used another treatment program in the past which involved so much time away from school, work, and home along with daily travel to and from treatment and it was exhausting and expensive and left little time for life to happen. Equip solved this problem with their virtual treatment model. It's wonderful to have access to a team of relevant and expert providers online and they truly do work as a team to help us help our children. My schedule is always changing but this isn't a problem at Equip; it's been easy to schedule our online appointments to fit into whatever my upcoming week looks like. I can attend appointments on my lunch breaks while my husband logs in from his office. As parents, I love that our team of Equip Health providers support us and are a team WITH us instead of working against us. The provided groups and classes and education about eating disorders have been so helpful for me in navigating this recovery journey with our daughters. Our youngest daughter has made massive improvements in the time she's received family based treatment with the support from Equip Health. Her overall health and her mood are so much better. It's great to see her happy again. Our oldest daughter just began with the adult program which she logs into from college. She has told me great things about her providers and mentor. I can already see her doing well with the support she's getting from Equip Health. Something else I love about Equip is it's affordability. They take my insurance which is great and when I receive my portion of the bill it is only a small fraction of what we were charged at the other program we used. Affordable care that is high in quality means so much to me, especially with 2 children receiving treatment. Equip delivers in both affordability and quality. People in my personal life that I care about and that know our eating disorder journey sometimes reach out to me that they are concerned about a loved one with an eating disorder. I always recommend Equip Health. Many thanks to Equip Health for their support! 5 stars!!!!

Equip is an all inclusive program for recovering from any type of eating disorder. This was a perfect step down program for us from a hospital setting but it would also be an excellent first step in treatment as well if one is not in an emergency situation.
A family member received excellent care for 10 months and we are now continuing the journey staying in recovery in our own. In the beginning so many meetings are utilized and by the end everything is phasing out but the rate is still the same at the beginning since it’s all inclusive. Make sure your insurance covers it, ours did.
